The Nordic Film Days Lübeck is put on by the Hanseatic City of Lübeck in cooperation with the film institutes and foundations of Scandinavia as well as the corresponding film institutions in the Baltic countries. Patrons of the festival are the ambassadors of the Nordic countries in Germany. Honorary President is the Norwegian actress and film director Liv Ullmann. Media partner is the TC and radio company NDR. The Nordic Film Days Lübeck is both an audience festival and an important meeting place for the film industry in Germany and Northern Europe. Many directors, whose debut works were presented in Lübeck, have later earned fame around the world - such as Bille August, Lasse Hallström, Aki Kaurismäki or Fridrik Thór Fridriksson. www.nordische-filmtage.de
Christmas Fairs

Christmas atmosphere all over town! A visit to Lübeck’s Christmas Fair, which was first mentioned in 1648, is a must for all Lübeck visitors. Thousands of fairy lights as well as Christmas decorations in the streets and shop windows bring a special atmosphere to the old hanseatic city. The Market and its some 400 merchants offer toys and Christmas decoration, fine crafts, mulled wine, baked apples and gingerbread. The historic Christmas market at St Mary’s church makes visitors travel through time - medieval flair in midst of modern Lübeck. There is also a fairytale forest where you can meet Little Red Riding Hood, Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella enjoyed by all the little ones.

Crafts market at St.Peter's church
25th November - 12th December 2010 / Lübeck
Craftsmen from Northern Germany offer their merchandise in the historical surrounding of St. Peter’s church, which was built some 800 years ago. The five-naved church with its slim gothic pillars, the sun illuminated bright room and the lively floor is a jewel of gothic brick architecture. All exhibitors show their works of superior craftsmanship and invite you to a stroll through the church decorated for Christmas creating an unforgettable atmosphere. The church's cafeteria and the restaurant in the churchyard ensure that guests will not lack anything. An additional highlight of the building is certainly the lift in the church steeple. It takes you to the viewing platform where you have an overwhelming view on the city of Lübeck.

Crafts market Hospital of the Holy Spirit
26th November – 6thDecember 2010 / Lübeck
The Craftsmen’s Christmas Fair in the unique atmosphere of the Hospital of the Holy Spirit is very well-known – even internationally. Up until the middle of the 20th century, elderly citizens resided in the small wooden cabins in the large hospital hall. Today more than 50,000 vistors each year marvel at the exquisite arts and crafts objects. Some 180 craftsmen from Germany, Scandinavia and the Baltic states show their varied traditional and modern handcrafter’s techniques. Inside the impressive church hall and in the small cabins of the long hall the merchants offer their products. Daily changing music programmes and tasty food complete the Christmas atmosphere.
